The photos included in this collection offer an overview of Algerian history, and specifically the life of the latter 19th century. The images are all from the year 1899 during the time that Algeria was subject to French rule. The 40 color photo plaques were made from black-and-white negatives, a process referred to by the name of ' photographchrom'. All images are available in the Public Domain.
